Student Art Exhibit Policies

  • The library is not responsible for the safety of artwork on display. Students exhibiting should consider independently insuring their artwork. 
  • The Library reserves the right to deny requests to exhibit artwork.
  • Student Library Exhibits are facilitated by the Art Subject Library Liaison with the help of the Lakeland Community College Art Gallery Director.
  • A Student Exhibit Request Form must be submitted to the Art Subject Library Liaison and approved by the Library administration.
  • The installation and removal of artwork is the responsibility of the student. The Art Subject Library Liaison will coordinate and schedule with students.
  • Damages caused by installation and removal of artwork are the responsibility of the student.
  • Any additional supplies, needed to exhibit art, are to be furnished by the student.
  • All sales of artwork will be handled by the student.
  • The Library upholds the principles of the American Library Association’s Code of Ethics and the Library Bill of Rights. The Library supports the tenets of intellectual freedom and opposes efforts to censor library materials, programs and services.

Exhibit Guidlines

  • An Exhibit Application Form must be filled out and submitted to hrosby1@lakelandcc.eduPlease be advised that submitting a request does not automatically give permission to exhibit. The Art Subject Library Liaison will contact you via email to discuss exhibit confirmation.
  • Applications are accepted and space will be assigned throughout the year. 
  • 4-10 pieces of artwork should be submitted per student. Groups may also submit work together. Submissions will be accepted digitally. Students may also be asked to make arrangements to bring work to the Library for a screening day. 
  • All two-dimensional works must be matted, backed and taped for protection. Black, white and gray only. Works will be displayed using binder clips or hooks. Size can not exceed a height of 24".
  • Three-dimensional works will be displayed in the glass case, near the entrance of the library.
  • Exhibits will be rotated every 4 weeks/1 month, revolving around the academic year.
  • A short artist's statement and biographical sketch will be displayed with the artwork and published on the Library's LibGuide and/or monthly newsletter.
