Ellen Strand, Interlibrary Loan Specialist
Started at LCC: I started working at the circulation desk in 1999. I was finishing my AA degree here at Lakeland. I started working in April, graduated in May, and have been here ever since.
Favorite place to visit: So many places, but I guess North Carolina. My daughter lives in Raleigh. One of my favorite places is Biltmore Estate in Asheville NC, and our family loves going to Topsail Island, NC for beach vacations. I can’t get enough of Niagara on the Lake in Canada, and recently visited Chautauqua, NY for the first time since I was a child, and I loved it! It’s like stepping back in time.
Currently watching: I watch Antiques Road Trip, Great British Baking Show, The Marvelous Mrs. Maizel, and most recently The Kominsky Method. I watch way too much TV.
Topic she can talk about for hours: I love the theater, and I can talk about theater for hours.
Favorite holiday treat: I love everything holiday, so cookies. I really enjoy making gingerbread houses with family and friends.
Student Library Innovator's (SLI) Game Night was a success!
Over 30 students, faculty, staff, and family enjoyed board games, card games, video games, and crafts at SLI's first ever community event. Thanks to our officers Ben Dujanovic (Treasurer), Alexis Lisy (Secretary), Izabel Justice (President), and Deanna Lowe (Vice-President), who worked very hard to make game night a success. Check future newsletters for details of our student group's upcoming events!

We have a children’s book collection at the Lakeland Library!
In collaboration with the Teaching & Learning Center (TLC) and Campus Kids, the Lakeland Library categorizes and houses the TLC book collection. Located near the Circulation desk, our quaint children’s area is a welcoming center for students, faculty, staff, and the community to enjoy and check out some great children’s books. Created in 2013, this ever-evolving collection has expanded to over 2,000 books, thanks to generous donations. Stop by and check it out!
Wisps of wind
Twirl Autumnal leaves
Final dance departing
Ground delicately beneath
Slippered feet of Wandering magi.
Northern crystal glimmers
Reflecting Frankincense and Myrrh
In eyes of
Angels with gossamer wings
Again we wait.
In soft slumber
Nestled beneath bales of blankets
Whispering among ourselves
Until morning comes.

"Cookie Exchange! For the past two years the Library Department has hosted a cookie exchange. It's a great way to have a variety of cookies for the holidays. And there's a plethora of cookie recipes to try. This is my new favorite tradition."
