Lakeland Community College's (LCC) Institutional Review Board (IRB) protects the rights and safety of persons participating in research, while safeguarding the academic freedom of researchers. The IRB oversees all research conducted with human participants by or through the college.
All research at LCC using living human subjects, or samples or data, obtained from them, directly or indirectly, with or without their consent, must either be approved in advance by LCC’s IRB, or be found to meet narrow criteria for exemption from IRB oversight by the IRB.
Lakeland Community College’s IRB is registered with the Department of Health and Human Services’ Office for Human Research Protections (OHRP) and operates in compliance with all U.S. federal regulations for the protection of human subjects in research.
