It is important to understand that research is a process and it requires planning and critical thinking. Use the following research steps as a guide as you conduct your research. Keep in mind that research is not a linear process-- as you evaluate your sources, you may find that you need to adapt your research question or return to a previous step in the process based on the information you discover.
