ENGL 2240 Children's Literature: Video Tutorials

The playlist on the right contains nine short videos that will help guide you through searching in FiSH. Closed captioning is available, you may also pause and/or restart the videos at any time. You may use the menu in the upper left corner to select a tutorial, although we recommend watching them in order.

FiSH stands for "First, Search Here" and searches a combination of many resources including the Lakeland Library book catalog, the OhioLINK book catalog, and more than 100 databases. A database is an online collection of sources and includes ebooks, articles from magazines, journals, and newspapers, encyclopedia entries, citations, and audio/video clips. Using a database allows you to find fewer, more relevant, more credible sources than simply running a search in Google. The resources in a database have typically gone through some type of review or editing process before being published. For more information check out the Know Your Sources tab.

Below the video playlist is the FiSH Search Box. Once you've selected a topic and watched the videos, use the search box to find articles about your topic. Refer back to the Information Literacy Assignment tab for the assignment guidelines.
