Safety and parking

Safety services and sign-ups for emergency alerts are provided by Lakeland's police department.

Tips and FAQs

Where can I find passwords to refchat, the reference voicemail, reflibrarian email account, and the locked doors? A: Refchat, Teams, LibGuides, and your personal email all require personal logins. For general accounts and the locked doors, ask a Team Leader for more information.
I'm not sure how to make a LibGuide, where do I find that information? A: For additional help navigating new technology, schedule an appointment with a Team Leader, ask colleagues in the Library, and/or check out the professional development tab on this guide for tutorials.
What hours will I be expected to work each semester? A: New reference librarians are hired to work specific hours during the first semester of employment, determined by the Library Program Chair. During subsequent semesters, the Library Program Chair will provide all reference librarians with a schedule several weeks prior to the start of the next semester. Schedules are subject to change from semester to semester, but generally remain static within a single semester. Break weeks (between fall and spring semester, and summer) are typically staffed by full-time reference librarians only.

Provides guidelines for face-to-face and online one-on-one research assistance appointments.
One-On-One Research Assistance Appointment Request Form
Students may complete this printed form face-to-face or the digital form linked to the myLakeland library homepage to request a one-on-one personal research assistance appointment. Printed forms are typically available at the reference desk.

Liaison Program Expectations
Provides guidelines for serving as subject liaison to assigned academic departments.
Liaison Program Assignments
Contains current liaison academic department assignments. New assignments will be posted every semester.

Collection Development Procedure
Contains guidelines for ordering new materials, reviewing donations, and weeding.
Collection Analysis Procedure
Every other year, Librarians complete a comprehensive analysis of the print collection. The project includes a department-wide statistical analysis of collection age and usage utilizing the procedure detailed here. The next collection analysis project is scheduled for Spring 2025.
Collection Development Map
Contains Liaison Librarian subject area assignments that map to the entire print collection. The Collection Development Map is updated each semester.
Collection Analysis Report Template
Librarians utilize this template to complete reports for each assigned collection area during the collection analysis project, every other year. The next collection analysis project is scheduled for Spring 2025.

Guide to LibGuides creation and accessibility
Contains tutorials and checklists for making your LibGuides more accessible. Please complete a checklist for each new guide you create before making it public.

Information Literacy Instruction Program Guide
Contains detailed information about our information literacy instruction program, including explanations of scaffolded instruction and lesson plans and exercises for several courses.

ENGL 1110-1111 Instruction Objectives
English 1110 & 1111 are fundamental college composition classes. The information literacy instruction sessions that we provide for the English 1110 and 1111 classes often serve as a student’s only introduction to the Lakeland Library and college level research. By the time they leave this session, they should be more thoroughly prepared to use the library and do research at the college level.
