Interlibrary Loan is now a part of Lakeland Reference!
Need more full-text access? Lakeland Librarians can search for your requested articles outside of Ohio. Formerly a part of our Technical Services Department, Interlibrary Loan is now a function of Reference. That means Librarians receive an article or book request from you and can immediately start searching for a copy outside of Ohio if we do not have access. Have questions about Interlibrary Loan? Read: The Club: Johnson, Boswell, and the Friends Who Shaped an Age by Leopold Damrosch
Summary:
"In 1763, the painter Joshua Reynolds proposed to his friend Samuel Johnson that they invite a few friends to join them every Friday at the Turk's Head Tavern in London to dine, drink, and talk until midnight. Eventually the group came to include among its members Edmund Burke, Adam Smith, Edward Gibbon, and James Boswell. It was known simply as "the Club." In this captivating book, Leo Damrosch brings alive a brilliant, competitive, and eccentric cast of characters. With the friendship of the "odd couple" Samuel Johnson and James Boswell at the heart of his narrative, Damrosch conjures up the precarious, exciting, and often brutal world of late eighteenth-century Britain. This is the story of an extraordinary group of people whose ideas helped to shape their age, and our own." |

Ever wonder what the library does behind the scenes?
The next few issues of the library's newsletter will give readers a glimpse into the many functions of the library. February's column focuses on how we communicate with you (students, faculty, staff, administrators), to answer your reference questions.
Questions for the library are filtered through several services before they are seen (or heard) by reference librarians. We receive questions via direct email (reflibrarian@lakelandcc.edu), email from circulation staff, from our chat service that is embedded in the library homepage, via phone, and face-to-face. We also answer a significant number of questions in our one-on-one research assistance appointments and in class during our information literacy instruction sessions. All members of our team have access to these services, and we often collaborate within our department and with staff and faculty around the college to get the answers you need. Librarians at Lakeland are also "generalists," which means we are trained to answer questions in any subject area.
