Welcome to the Lakeland Library Newsletter! Each month, we will showcase classes, events, and other fun and interesting facts about the Library and our staff. We will also keep you informed of new resources and services that are designed to assist you in your course work, and personal and professional lives.
EBSCO databases are changing!
We are excited to announce additional upgrades to our databases this summer! Interfaces for all EBSCO databases (Academic Search Complete, CINAHL, MEDLINE, Business Source Complete, and many others) will receive improvements. The upgrade is slated for Tuesday, May 13th, and will provide a more streamlined experience for your research, including easier access to full-text, saving, and citing options. For a preview, visit our Literary Reference Source database.
Stop by the Library, on the third floor of C-Building, C-3051, to browse some of our great new resources!
The library services platform (LSP) migration continues to proceed at a rapid pace! We have now begun the process of transitioning our OhioLINK and interlibrary loan services to Rapido, the Ex Libris platform that will help us facilitate borrowing and lending of print and digital resources between Lakeland Library and other libraries. During Spring Reading Days, we will provide more detailed information about this piece of the project (and many others!) and how it will affect requesting of OhioLINK materials during the summer. Stay tuned!
Need a place to study?
Lakeland Library has two group study rooms and one completely quiet study area for students. No reservation is required to use these spaces. Additional comfortable seating and study tables are available throughout the Library. Prepare for your final exams without distractions!
Story Time Readers Needed!
Lakeland library invites you to be a volunteer Story Time guest reader during the Spring Semester. The library partners with the TLC throughout the year to provide story time for toddlers and pre-schoolers. This spring we will host story time in our TLC Collection on Jan. 22, Feb. TBD, Mar. 26, Apr. 23, and May 21. Volunteering to read requires about an hour and a half of your time. Lakeland's librarians are happy to help you select a book and plan a session. If you enjoy reading, don't mind making a kid's day, and think promoting early childhood literacy is worthwhile, we encourage you to volunteer. For more information or to volunteer, contact Thomas Hyland at thyland@lakelandcc.edu.
