Welcome to the Lakeland Library Newsletter! Each month, we will showcase classes, events, and other fun and interesting facts about the Library and our staff. We will also keep you informed of new resources and services that are designed to assist you in your course work, and personal and professional lives.
Nexis Uni has a new look!
The Nexis Uni database got an upgrade this summer. You can now search for news, company information, market insights, and legal sources using tabs at the top of the screen. Need help finding a source for your research paper? Email reference at reflibrarian@lakelandcc.edu.
Stop by the Library, on the third floor of C-Building, C-3051, to browse some of our great new resources!
You wouldn’t know it if you stood in the middle of Lakeland Library and looked around right now, but there’s a massive migration going on here. You won’t see herds of wildebeests or clouds of monarchs. This migration is going on unseen, quietly in the background. We’re working to migrate from one Library Services Platform (LSP) to another, new platform. We’re transferring enormous amounts of data, patron information and bibliographic records, from the old system to the new one. We’re also configuring how the new system will look and function for the end user. The Ohio Department of Higher Education (ODHE) has funded this migration. It’s taking place at every OhioLINK library in the state. You’ll be hearing a lot about it from us throughout the academic year because we want to prepare you for when we officially roll out the new platform next fall. Until then, stop in for the same great resources and services you’ve come to expect from Lakeland Library. We encourage you to use course reserves, get an ID, work on a puzzle, browse the displays, or sign your class up for instruction. Have a great fall semester!

How do I sign up for an information literacy class or research appointment?
Instructors can use our digital information literacy request form to schedule class sessions with reference librarians on our staff. Librarians will review how to locate, evaluate, and responsibly use academic and popular information sources with your students. Class sessions are offered both face-to-face and online, and can be tailored to your assignments.
Need help outside of class? Students and faculty can also sign up for one-on-one research assistance appointments. Librarians will cover catalogs, databases, and other resources that fit your specific assignment and topic. One-on-one appointments are also offered face-to-face in the library and online all semester.
